Premium A+ Content is one of the most effective tools Amazon gives sellers to lift conversions, because it is essentially a large, interactive landing page built right into your listing. The catch: most sellers are not using it. Four out of five sellers do not even have access to Premium A+ Content yet. And of the modules you do get, most are not worth your time. There are 19 available, but only about seven or eight actually help you build content that converts, and you only get seven slots to fill.
What Premium A+ Content Is
Premium A+ Content is a rich, interactive section of your listing that behaves almost like your own website inside the product page. The main difference from regular (Basic) A+ Content is that Premium is mobile optimized. In fact, you design the desktop version and the mobile version independently, because the same module can render dramatically differently on each.
That independent mobile design matters, since it lets you control the experience for phone shoppers instead of hoping a desktop layout translates.
Premium A+ Content is essentially a big landing page, almost like your own interactive website within the listing.
How to Get Access to Premium A+ Content
To check whether you have Premium, go to the hamburger menu, click Advertising, then A+ Content Manager. Click Start creating A+ content and scroll down to the Premium section. If you do not see it, you do not have access yet.
To unlock Premium A+ Content, you need two things:
- Brand Story modules on every one of your live listings. Make sure Brand Story is loaded on each ASIN. It is easy to create (see our Amazon Brand Story guide).
- At least 15 approved Basic A+ Content applications. This does not mean 15 listings. You can take a single listing and keep submitting applications with minor changes until 15 are approved.
One timing note from the video: at the time it was recorded, Amazon only approved A+ Content monthly, at the beginning of each month. If you are near the start of a month, you may have to wait until the next one, which gives you time to get your 15 applications approved. Amazon changes these requirements over time, so confirm the current rule in Seller Central before you plan around it.
The Premium A+ Content Modules Worth Using
Out of the 19 modules, these are the ones I single out as useful.
Premium Comparison Table 1
One of the best modules, and for most sellers the one to build. It is the closest to the old regular A+ comparison table, but far more powerful: it scrolls to the right and shows clickable listings for your other products, each with an add-to-cart button. That makes it like a set of large, free sponsored-product spots on your own listing. It is also a big reason launching more products grows revenue, because you can cross-promote them heavily here.
Premium Comparison Tables 2 and 3
Two alternate versions. They do not have the add-to-cart button, but they look good on mobile. Table 1 is usually the better pick because it takes up more space and includes add-to-cart. Reach for table 3 when you are more content heavy or want bigger images, since it shows across different domains which products have which feature.
Premium Full Image
The same idea as the background-image module but without Amazon’s text formatting. This one is genuinely valuable and is a common module in Sophie Society’s own Premium A+ designs.
Premium Full Video
Plays extremely well on both mobile and desktop. Click it and a player opens and plays the video. If you have video content, this is a must-include.
Premium Hotspots 1 and 2
Interactive and one of the few modules that behaves very differently across devices. On desktop you hover over dots to reveal a different feature; on mobile you swipe to see a different image with text below it for each feature. It is a good experience on both. Hotspots 2 is similar, with a text feature added at the top.
Premium Navigation Carousel and Regimen Carousel
The navigation carousel works like a mini website, with a nav bar plus an image and text, and packs a lot into one module. The regimen carousel is my preferred one: click each section and it switches the image and text, keeping the images front and center. It is a strong way to show different features, benefits, or use cases of the product or brand.
Premium Q&A
A great module for avoiding negative reviews. Review the reasons people return your product and the complaints in your negative reviews, then answer those upfront here. That keeps the wrong shoppers, the ones who would have had a bad experience, from buying in the first place, which lifts your review rating over time.
Premium Simple Image Carousel
Lets you pack a lot of images into one module (for example, six images the shopper clicks through, or swipes through on mobile). Useful when you have a lot of image content.
Premium Video Image Carousel and Video With Text
Optional. The video image carousel lets you pack in more video content than the regular video module. Video with text works too, but putting the whole module into a single Premium Full Video is usually the better move.
The Premium A+ Content Modules to Ignore
I will be blunt: most modules are not worth a slot. Skip these:
- Premium background image with text – you cannot format the text, so design it into the image and use Premium Full Image instead
- Premium dual images with text and premium four images and text – these hark back to old text-heavy A+ style and waste the rich-media advantage of Premium
- Premium single image with text – text heavy; focus on video and image-first modules
- Premium text – a waste of a module slot; no brand needs it
- Premium technical specifications – avoid unless your product is highly technical and aimed at specialists or professionals
Frequently Asked Questions
Premium A+ Content is a rich, mobile-optimized section of an Amazon listing that works like an interactive landing page inside the product page. It offers 19 modules, including video, interactive hotspots, carousels, and a comparison table with add-to-cart buttons, and you design the desktop and mobile versions independently.
You need two things: Brand Story modules loaded on every one of your live listings, and at least 15 approved Basic A+ Content applications (which can all come from one listing via repeated minor-change applications). Access and approval timing change over time, so confirm the current requirements in Seller Central.
The main difference is that Premium A+ Content is mobile optimized, and you design the desktop and mobile layouts independently. Premium also unlocks richer modules such as full video, interactive hotspots, carousels, and a comparison table with add-to-cart buttons that regular A+ Content does not offer.
Focus on the roughly seven or eight useful ones: Premium Comparison Table 1 (with add-to-cart), Premium Full Image, Premium Full Video, Premium Hotspots, the Navigation or Regimen Carousel, Premium Q&A, and the Simple Image Carousel. Ignore the text-heavy modules and the technical specifications module unless your product is highly technical.
By answering the most common complaints and return reasons upfront, the Q&A module stops shoppers who would buy for the wrong reason or misunderstand the product. Those shoppers do not buy and then leave a bad review, so your review rating improves over time.
